13-year-old girl found stabbed near road was known to her attackers, police say | UK News

A 13-year-old girl who was stabbed yesterday morning was known to her attackers, Humberside Police said.

Six teenagers continue to be questioned by detectives and the girl remains in hospital following the attack which occurred around 6:50 a.m. Friday.

The young girl, who received stab wounds to the neck, abdomen, chest and back, is in a “critical but stable” condition, police added.

The six teenagers, four boys aged 14, 15, 16 and 17 and two girls aged 14 and 15, were found yesterday in a wooded area near the scene, off the A63 in Hessle and were arrested for attempted murder.

They continue to be questioned.

Leading the investigation, Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers said: “Over the past 24 hours, my team has carried out a thorough investigation to determine exactly why this incident occurred and understand the circumstances which led to the attack on the 13-year-old hospital. -an old girl who remains in critical but stable condition in hospital.

“As part of these investigations yesterday a large scene guard was in place around a wooded area on Ferriby High Road as well as an area on the A63, Hessle where the teenager was being attended to by members of the public. These cords have now been lifted.

“I can confirm that the attackers were aware that the 13-year-old girl and six teenage boys are currently in our custody and are being questioned by detectives.”

He thanked those who came to the girl’s aid before help arrived, as well as those who contacted police with information.

Humberside Police say they will have a greater presence in the area over the weekend and have asked anyone with information or video to contact us or Crimestoppers anonymously.
