Storm Bert is set to hit the UK and an expert has issued a stark warning about the immediate steps Britons must take to prepare.

The Met Office has issued a series of yellow and amber weather warnings across the country from Saturday (November 23), with strong winds, disruptive snow and heavy rain all forecast as potential impacts of the storm.

John Swindle, roofing specialist at Chase Roof Inspections, urged Britons to make a crucial check a top priority.

He said: “Storms like Bert’s can wreak havoc on properties, but with a few simple precautions, homeowners can minimize the risk of damage. Your roof is your first line of defense against wind, rain and snow, so it’s important to make sure it’s in good condition. essential.”

Swindle advised people to inspect their homes for cracks, leaks or weak spots that could be affected by the storm.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Holley warned of a major change in weather conditions with the arrival of Storm Bert: “Storm Bert marks a shift to much milder air and winter risks will gradually diminish over the course of the weekend, but heavy snowfall is expected in parts of the north.
