City of Cape Girardeau appoints new police chief

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Cape Girardeau Police Department has a new police chief.

The City of Cape Girardeau named Interim Police Chief Adam Glueck to lead the department on Friday, November 22.

City leaders said the decision would take effect immediately.

In a city release, Glueck has more than 25 years of service with the department across various roles and ranks including a public information officer, lieutenant and deputy police chief.

Glueck said in a released statement that he is honored and humbled to take on the new role of police chief.

“This is not just a title, but a commitment to serving our community with integrity, transparency and unwavering dedication,” said Chief Glueck. “Thank you for this opportunity and the continued support of Dr. Haskin, Mayor Kinder, the members of the Cape Girardeau City Council, the men and women of the Cape Girardeau Police Department and all members of our community. I am ready to lead with integrity and action.

Glueck replaces former police chief Wes Blair who left the department in August for a position in Memphis, Tennessee.
