Plainfield police arrest Putnam man for unlawful sexual contact with a child. What we know

A Putnam man was charged with unlawful sexual contact with a child Monday and remains in custody following an investigation by the Plainfield Police Department.

On June 24, 2024, the Plainfield Police Department began an investigation into a reported sexual assault of a five-year-old child that occurred approximately 10 years ago.

Plainfield police said after a lengthy investigation, an arrest warrant for Thomas Cosman, 27, of Putnam, was signed in Danielson Superior Court on three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of unlawful sexual contact with a victim under the age of 13. .

Cosman turned himself in to the Plainfield Police Department on Monday on an active arrest warrant. He was held on a court-set $150,000 cash/surety bond pending arraignment in Danielson Superior Court that day. Cosman has not been charged with any other crimes in CT.

Following the arraignment, Cosman is being held on a court-set bond of $75,000. He is due back in Danielson Superior Court on Dec. 6.
