Maruti Suzuki e Vitara revealed; India launch in 2025

The e Vitara will compete with the Tata Curvv.ev, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Mahindra BE 6e in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki has revealed the production version of the eVX concept, the e Vitara. The electric SUV made its global debut in Italy a short while ago. It will be launched in India in March 2025.

The Maruti e Vitara is the brand’s first midsize electric SUV. It will compete with the Tata Curvv.ev, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Mahindra BE 6e in the Indian market.

The overall design of the e Vitara is similar to the eVX concept. It has a proper SUV look with muscular wheel arches and a sharp-looking front fascia. It features sleek single-pod headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and wraparound LED taillights connected by a black insert. The e Vitara rides on either 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels and has black plastic cladding all around. The rear door handles are located on the C-pillars, while the charging port can be found on the front fender.

The e Vitara features a two-tone interior with a dual-screen layout and a 2-spoke steering wheel. The center console houses a rotary drive mode selector and an electronic parking brake. Other features include automatic climate control, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charger, heated mirrors, and ADAS.

The e Vitara is based on a skateboard platform called ‘Heartect-e’. The electric SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,635 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It has a ground clearance of 180 mm and weighs 1,702-1,899 kg depending on the variant.

China’s BYD will supply the batteries for the e Vitara. There will be two options on offer: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery will be paired with a single electric motor powering the front axle. It has an output of 142 BHP and 189 Nm. The larger 61 kWh battery will be offered in single-motor and dual-motor variants with an output of 172 BHP / 189 Nm and 184 BHP / 300 Nm, respectively.
