Millennials say Trump election results prove they’re the ‘best generation’

Following Donald TrumpFollowing Millennials’ recent election victory, many millennials are taking to social media to proclaim that they are the “best generation.”

This comes after data revealed that Millennials, who are generally defined as those born between 1981 and 1996, do not follow the typical pattern of becoming more conservative as they age.

Studying voting surveys conducted in the UK and US, the Financial Times found that the number of US millennials voting Republican has remained well below the national average, rather than increasing with age, with the current cohort of Millennials being the least conservative in history.

The data also shows that the number of Gen Republicans has become higher than the national average as they age.

“I know millennials get a bad rap for being nerdy and too fond of BuzzFeed quizzes and identifying too strongly with Hogwarts houses, but we were dealt a horrible hand and we turned out to be the best generation,” said one X user in response to the search.

Other Millennials also took to social media to react to the findings.

“Millennial men were too busy quoting the anchor and finding new and innovative ways to dismiss each other for being radicalized by the far right and I love them for it,” wrote one X user .

“It’s a real tragedy that the Baby Boomers instilled in the Millennials by not taking after the next generations, because it turns out we are actually the best generation ever, even though we don’t we’re not even close to it,” a third person wrote.

“Seeing Gen Z men shift to the right is different for Millennials. We’ve lived through Columbine, 9/11, the Iraq War, the 2008 crash, the 2016 election, COVID, the ban on abortion, and now this We have seen institutions fail us repeatedly while older generations selfishly protected the status quo,” another person said.

Generation Z voters, born between 1997 and 2012, generally tend to lean left, but exit data now suggests that voters aged 18 to 27 are much more likely to support Trump than previous years.

Preliminary data from The Associated PressA VoteCast poll, based on more than 120,000 voters, showed that 52% of voters under 30 supported Harris in the 2024 election, compared to 61% who supported the president. Joe Biden in 2020.

For comparison, 46% of young voters supported Trump this year, up from 36% in 2020. This means that Trump has reduced the number of voters. Democrats‘ advance by 19 points among younger voters between 2020 and 2024. In contrast, Trump reduced the Democrats’ lead among voters aged 30 to 44 by 8 points between 2020 and 2024, from 12 points to 4.

Polling data suggests that the rightward movement among young voters is partly driven by young men. An average of the last three New York Times/Siena College National Pollsconducted between September and October, found that Trump led Harris by 21 points among young men.

Meanwhile, according to a September Harvard Youth Poll survey, men ages 18 to 24 are more likely to identify as conservative than those ages 25 to 29. In the survey, 26 percent of younger men identified as conservative, compared to 21 percent of men ages 25 to 29.

Still, Gen Z voters remain much more Democratic than millennials, who just recently voted for Harris over Trump, according to CNN an exit poll, which showed Harris leading among Gen Z voters by 11 points, while she led among 30-44 year-olds by just 1 point.
