Lake bids farewell to politics, without concession, on video

(The Center Square) – While not a concession, Arizona Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Kari Lake released a video thanking Arizonans for supporting her throughout his attempt at a political career and to broadcast his support for President Donald Trump’s victory in addition to a Republican majority in both cases. chambers of Congress.

“As for me?” Well, I can say with certainty that the truth will never stop mattering to me,” Lake said. “You will never stop meaning to me. These memories we made together will never disappear. They will become gentler with time and I will never stop fighting for the state I love.

Lake lost the race for Kyrsten Sinema’s U.S. Senate seat to Democrat Ruben Gallego by 79,102 votes in 99 percent of precincts. Lake began his political journey by running for governor of Arizona in 2022, but lost to Governor Katie Hobbs. Lake has yet to come to terms with this loss, leading to years of litigation that has not ended in his favor.

Before that, Lake worked as a television presenter for three decades before moving away from “fake news.”

“For 30 years, you have trusted me to break the news into your homes and tell you the truth,” Lake said. “About three years ago, I walked away from a seven-figure fake news contract because I couldn’t lie to you. What good is money if it comes at the expense of your soul?

Lake ran his campaign on a MAGA, Trump-backed campaign, and although Trump won Arizona in the presidential election, pollsters attributed that split ticket to Lake’s inability to gain support from independent voters and undecided.

“Arizona is a clear red state,” Mike Noble, CEO and founder of NPI, said in a post-election report. “No matter how you measure it – party registration, party identification, recall of past votes – it’s just a red state. So someone like Gallego was expected to post exceptional numbers among independents and Democrats while eliminating some Republicans. Our poll showed Gallego doing just that. We found, through numerous surveys, that Lake narrowed the gap as Election Day approached – but that wouldn’t be enough to erase Gallego’s lead. He consolidated himself as a national player with this performance.

Even with Lake’s defeat, Republicans managed to maintain a 53-47 majority in the U.S. Senate. Lake has yet to announce where she plans to set her sights in the future, political or otherwise.
