We still have two important points up for grabs in tonight’s Atlantic Division matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings.

Toronto’s power play appears to be heating up after overcoming an 0-for-20 skid a few games ago, and I expect the unit to stay hot tonight with great chances given to William Nylander to save a PP point.

Maple Leafs vs Red Wings Prediction

My Leafs pick
William Nylander More than 0.5 points on the power play (+225 at Sports Interaction)

My analysis of the Leafs
THE Toronto Maple Leafs He seems to have figured things out on the power play after starting the season just 4 for 40 (10%).

The Buds have now capitalized on four of their last nine chances over the last two games, increasing their power play success rate by almost five percentage points (14.9%).

William Nylander played a major role in the turnaround with power play goals in back-to-back games while accounting for five of the team’s seven converted opportunities. With Auston Matthews likely to miss tonight’s game again, I’m counting on Willy as the starter for the top unit.

The Swedish winger has been a big part of this team’s PP success for quite some time now. He led the team with 35 power play points last season and now leads them with three of seven goals already this year.

Furthermore, the Detroit Red Wings The penalty kill has been horrible this season, killing just 69.4% of their penalties, which ranks 29th in the NHL.

A big reason for this is the inability to limit scoring chances when he is down. The Red Wings rank in the Top 5 in scoring chances allowed (71.17/60) and expected goals against per 60 (9.61).

This should bode well for the Leafs power play generating chances at an elite rate, ranking fourth in high-danger chances with 32.4 per 60 minutes at 5-on-4.

Nylander is the focal point of PP1 and has the best value at +225 to get a point on the man advantage tonight.

Parlay in the same game Maple Leafs vs Red Wings (SGP)

Matthew Knies 2+ shots on goal

William Nylander 2+ shots on goal

William Nylander, anytime goal

Nylander leads the team with 10 goals this season and becomes Toronto’s No. 1 offensive option when Auston Matthews is out.

He has reached the mark of two or more shots in four straight games and nine of his last 12 games. Additionally, the Red Wings give up the second-most shots on goal per game in the NHL (33.7), so there are plenty of opportunities to get shots on goal.

I will also support Matthew Knies to record more than 2 shots tonight. Knies has had 11 multi-shot games so far this season in 14 games and plays in line with Max Domi and Mitch Marner – two pass-first forwards who are likely to feed him pucks all night.

Additionally, Knies was elevated to the top PP spot in Matthews’ absence. More ice time means more chances to shoot the puck on net.
