Margret Chola, a rural grandmother from Zambia, became an internet sensation after dressing up by swapping outfits with her granddaughter.

The old lady, aged around 80, is affectionately known as “Legendary Glamma” and has won the hearts of 225,000 followers on Instagram with her bold and playful fashion photos.

Talk to BBCMs. Chola shared, “I feel different, new and alive in these clothes, in a way I’ve never felt before: like I can take on the world!”

Diana Kaumba, Margret’s granddaughter, is a New York-based stylist who created The fortnightly Granny series in 2023, came up with the idea after celebrating her father’s second birthday.

She says her father, who dressed well, inspired her passion for fashion.

During this visit, Ms. Kaumba did not have the chance to wear all of her carefully selected outfits, so she asked her grandmother to dress her.

The old lady wore Mbuya’s top with Chitange, a piece of patterned fabric draped around the waist.

Additionally, Ms. Chola was photographed in all her outdoor glamor, sitting on an elegant wooden chair or reclining on a leather sofa, against the backdrop of an exposed brick building, mango trees and corn crops.

Mamie also posed in mixed clothing with vibrant colors and styles, on a blue, black and green top complemented by a gold snake necklace and bracelet.

In some shots, Ms. Chola is seen holding a radio which she carries with her and also sleeps with.

Note that Marget Chola was raised by her grandparents, went to school and was forced to marry a 30-year-old woman for economic reasons.
